Tuesday, 1241am.
So i am basically blogging about yesterday, the yesterday which just pass 41 mins ago.
As promised in the previous post, i will share the story of how Singapore Sling was created.
Back in the 1900s, Singapore was still under the British rule. Thus, only the rich people such as the Generals in the Army have the financial ability to afford drinks in pubs.
To add on, the alcohol that time was mainly a mix of Gin and Tonic, which is considered too strong for the local ladies. As a result, little local ladies went for the drink. Bemused at how the Generals cannot manage to pick up local girls, the General ask the bartender, and challenge him to come up with a unique cocktail that would attract the local ladies and make them addicted to the drink.
After some time, the bartender came up with Singapore Sling. It was a reddish cocktail. The pineapple juice, Grenadine, Angostura bitters and lime masked the coming sting of the gin and cherry brandy. Thus, the feeling was not immediate but indeed potent. So when the local ladies sip them, it felt refreshing as the fruit was topical, Pineapple with the sweet sweet taste.
One cup after one, they did not know that what they drank was potent alcholic content cocktail. So the Generals managed to stealthily sink the ladies guard and... happy hour man!
YUP! What a good story this drink came from right. Hmmm.
